Transporting a Single Disabled Individual
Public Vehicle for Transporting Disabled Persons
  • Minibus for disabled persons – a bus specially equipped to transport disabled persons and passengers together or separately, approved by the Ministry of Transport.
  • Taxi for disabled persons – a taxi for transporting the disabled, including all the approvals required for transporting the disabled

Driving a Private Vehicle
  • Right-/left-hand mechanism – consists of a turn signal activator, light changer, horn, windshield wipers on the system
  • Left foot accelerator – transfers accelerator control to the left foot for amputees or partial paralytics
  • Standard steering ball joint – installed on the steering wheel, and used for making slight, efficient turns of the steering wheel
  • Function unit for steering ball joint – a wireless system enabling the driver to control the turn signals, horn, lights and windshield wipers from the steering wheel
Driving a Commercial Vehicle

The crowning achievement in providing independence for severely disabled, wheelchair-bound individuals is mobility and independent driving.

A van-type commercial vehicle is the ideal solution.

The disabled driver approaches his car and using a smart remote control, opens and lowers the side door and the lift to sidewalk/road level. Remaining in his wheelchair, he gets onto the lift and raises it to car level. The floor of the car has been lowered to allow entry and mobility inside the car and easy access to the driving position. The driving position is custom-made for each customer’s individual needs, based on the specifications provided by the Vehicle Size Committee at the Medical Road Safety Institute of the Ministry of Health. These specifications include simple accessories such as the hand/ball joint mechanism as well as sophisticated electronic systems and voice interactive controls.

Advanced Driving Solutions
Advanced electronic driving systems for private and commercial vehicles include:
  • Electronic control panel – provides control of all vehicle functions
  • Electric accelerator and brake – a unique easy-operation system that controls the brake pedal and accelerator
  • Electric steering wheel – a miniaturized digital steering wheel
  • Joystick – a stick that provides simultaneous activation of the steering wheel and the accelerator or brake
  • Electric gear scanner – a system that allows push-button control of the gear selector
  • Electric parking brake – aids the driver in operating the parking brake in any situation without having to use force. Operated by means of two buttons.
Driving Lessons for the Disabled

In order to acquire mobility, disabled persons have to be taught how to drive. This applies not only to those who are beginning to learn, but also to those whose condition has deteriorated and need to change their method of driving (e.g. switching to an electric gas/brake pedal, a joystick, or any other driving device).

ATM has designed and built 6 disabled drivers' learning vehicles that are deployed in the South, North and Center of the country. Three of them belong to NII. Not surprisingly, ATM won the tender for building these vehicles and providing service and a warranty, as well as installing special extras according to the learners' needs. The other three vehicles are being used at private schools. The vehicles are all equipped with modular systems that can be fully customized for the driver. If modifications are required, we will make them to the user's satisfaction.

ATM is happy to provide you, the learners, with this service. Feel free to contact us.
